Capt. Dan built this trip for the group that wants to fish and does not want a long, wet ride to do it. Miss Chief runs just outside the harbor to the patch reefs. The water is the easy water. The captain baits the hooks, finds the fish, and walks a first-timer through the cast if they want the help.
We are not trying to fill the cooler. We are trying to teach you how to fish. That is a different day from a deep-sea charter, and it should be sold as one. Snapper and grouper are the usual story on this reef, with whatever the season adds. Nothing is promised. A child holding their first fish is the photograph this trip is for.
Six passengers is the boat limit, which is exactly enough for one parent and five kids, or a couple of families who actually like each other. You are not sharing the deck. Morning trips leave at 7. Afternoon four-hour trips leave at noon or 1. There is a clean marine head aboard, shade in the cabin, and bottled water in the cooler.
If the morning goes well and you want a swim on the way in, say so. Dan has finished a four-hour day with a sandbar stop when the clock and the weather allow it. That is a conversation, not a second product you have to discover by accident.

Know before you board
- Private boat, six passengers maximum.
- No eight-hour version of this trip. The patch does not need it.
- Built for beginners. Experienced anglers who want wrecks or the Stream should book those trips.
- No specific catch is guaranteed.
- Sailfish and marlin are not the target out here, and both are released when they show up offshore.
Bring
- Sunscreen, a hat, and polarized sunglasses
- Soft-soled or non-marking shoes, or bare feet
- Food and drinks for your group
- A light layer. The ride home can be cooler than the dock.
- Motion-sickness medicine if anyone needs it, taken before you board
- A phone or camera
