The Mosquito Sandbar sits outside Mosquito Bank. Dan’s description is the useful one: shallow, sandy, about three feet deep, walkable, beautiful when the water is clear, and busy in the summer. Rodriguez Key is the other stop, a beach you reach by boat rather than by a parking lot. Miss Chief takes six passengers there, privately.
That number is the difference. A lot of sandbar trips in the Upper Keys are built for a crowd, a speaker, and a shared cooler. This one is your group, a sportfisher, and room to swim. There are a few masks aboard for a casual snorkel in the shallows. That is not a snorkel charter, and it is not a dive trip. Insurance and good sense keep those off the menu.
A four-hour day can be fish first and sandbar after. Dan has done it. People looking at a fishing page often never find out it is possible, then book two separate trips somewhere else. If you want both, book four hours and say so. The reef has to cooperate with the clock. The sandbar will still be there if the fish are not in the mood.
Bring food and drinks. We do not run a bar package and we do not deliver alcohol to the sandbar. Music is fine at a volume that does not make the next boat’s trip about you. Summer weekends are crowded on the bar itself. Go in with that knowledge, or pick a morning.

- Summer afternoons draw a crowd of other boats. The privacy is on Miss Chief, not on the whole sandbar.
